In today’s business world you need a leg up on your competition. A web site marketing strategy is just the fix you need.

There are many businesses out there today with a website. Just about everyone has one and you should too. But, the problem is that most of those websites are not getting any visitors at all.

It’s great to have a website for your prospects to look at when after they meet you. But, what if you could attract more prospects for your business with your website?

A properly optimized website can bring you leads for years. But you need more than just that if you are going to win over your competitors.

You website should be like a direct marketing piece of mail. It should cover just about any question someone would ask about your business. Many people put up a website to look like a brochure. This is all well and good; however your website needs to sell for you.

It comes down to online marketing. When someone finds your website they will have questions from the start. If they find some of the answers they are looking for then you may have your contact form filled out or receive a phone call.

Attention spans on the internet are very short. You need information to keep your visitors at your website longer.

Many people feel that they are in effect giving away their secrets when they do this. This is simply not true. The internet is driven by information. If you don’t have it, you don’t get visitors, it’s that simple.

So how do you start to get people to take notice of your website?

The first and most simplistic thing is keyword research. This is the most well known strategy in all internet marketing circles. But, don’t feel bad if you do not know this. You can learn today. Just make sure you understand, this is the basis of what drives your website marketing.

Just head on over to wordtracker.com and read all you find there. They key is to find what people are actually searching for on the internet and then plug those keywords into your website.

The above is what’s known as search engine optimization. However you shouldn’t just stop there.

Maybe your business is a local plumbing business. You goal should be to get prospects to your website from your local area.

One way to accomplish this would be to write articles and send them to high traffic websites from your area. You could write a nice informative article about plumbing and then send it over to your local news website and see if they want to publish your article.

The trick is to make sure you include your link at the bottom of your article. This way when someone reads your article, they find your link at the bottom and bingo they visit your website after they read what you have to say.

Ok, so you now have this great article and you want to send it out. But, how do you do that?

The first thing you need to understand is you need to respect reporters and webmasters time. When sending your article to them, first of all make sure it is relevant to what they want. Next, send it over with a nice letter and include your article in the body of your email.

Do not, include attachments ever. Most people will delete these for fear of viruses.

Email your article only once. These people are extremely busy and you do not need to keep bothering them or spam them. Just prepare a professional looking letter and find the right person to send your article too.

The next thing you could do is, finding websites that are relevant to your business. Just head on over to Google and type in keywords for your business. Then see if you can find websites that are similar to yours.

Once you find them, prepare another professional contact letter and ask them if they would like to publish your article. Just make sure the websites are from your local area. This way when a visitor reads your article and you have included your link. They will click on it and head straight over to your website.

This trick to all over this is sending you article out over time to as many places as you can find. 20 or 30 will not do the trick. Just pace yourself over a few weeks time and set some goals to do this.

You see, when you start to send out your articles. People will start to publish them on their websites. This in effect becomes a form of viral marketing that will bring you visitors for years to come.

Internet marketing is the use of different tactics online to advertise and sell your goods and services. Internet marketing is associated with several business models such as e-commerce, publishing and lead-based websites where an organization generates value by acquiring sales leads from its website.

Internet marketing is relatively inexpensive when the ratio of cost against the ability to reach massive numbers of perspective buyers in the target audience is compared.

Internet marketing is a cost effective way to deliver quality buyers for your goods or services at little cost compared to most types of marketing approaches available. It is by far the fastest growing advertising method for all companies today.

Internet marketing is all about people knowing each others interests, values and preferences and attracting them to a solution. Internet marketing is a relatively new field in comparison to traditional offline marketing.

It’s a long process where you first build a website and nurture it through its growing pains until you can find a way to place it at the top of the search engine rankings. Internet Marketing is definitely not something that you set and forget, as many would have you believe.

It’s an action plan compiled by you which must be followed through with on a daily basis. It’s an Internet Marketing plan with consistency being its primary objective.

Internet Marketing is a field, perpetuated on some fronts, by lies, fantasy and tales of overnight success which has given different areas such as MLM or Multi Level Marketing a bad name in some quarters.

Internet marketing is an important business building function for any business and is a process not an event, unlike nearly any other form of marketing. It is comparable to traditional marketing strategies in that you will have to determine what works and what doesn’t and continually experiment with newer strategies to help establish your business and make it successful.

Internet marketing is booming and everyone has a great opportunity to benefit from this prosperity as long as they know how to market online and have the patience to stick with their plan. It doesn’t happen overnight.

The most important component of any Internet Marketing strategy is to have a written well thought out plan in place. You must be consistent and apply this plan on a daily basis to attract visitors to your website and you must stick with it through good times and bad in order to achieve success online.

This plan however is not set in stone. Without a doubt, you will have to adjust it and find the right combination of strategies that work for you. There are many and varied approaches to internet marketing and you should try to find not only what works best, but also what you enjoy most.

Pay per click has proven to be very successful for a lot of people over the years but it’s not for everyone. It can be a complex process which you have to be on top of at least two or three times per day. If you aren’t vigilant when it comes to PPC then it could cost you financially and produce very limited results.

For example, you may enjoy Social Networking or the new Web 2.0 as it’s now called and you may be just as successful combining this approach with a multimedia strategy, which is gaining more prominence online everyday.

There are so many weapons you can use in your Internet Marketing Strategy to drive traffic and sales that you should be able to find the combination that suits your needs and also translates into success online. The bottom line is to have a plan, follow through consistently on a daily basis and don’t give up.

Do you have an Internet marketing strategy for your online business? You should. Internet marketing and Internet advertising, when done properly, can drive traffic to your website and practically double your sales overnight. In fact, advertising your site may be the only way for you to compete with larger, more established competitors.

While there are many different forms of Internet marketing strategy that you can employ, one of the easiest and most reliable forms is results tracking. When you track the results of your Internet advertising campaigns, you can quickly learn what works and what doesn’t work. For obvious reasons, this method is much better than a random hit and miss advertising method, which can turn out to be quite costly, not to mention ineffective.

Of course, this form of Internet marketing strategy isn’t anything new. Direct marketers have been using results tracking for years, and it can easily be adapted for the Internet. The key is to come up with a way to measure the results of Internet advertising accurately. If you’re tracking is not accurate, there is little to no point in doing it.

To make sure their tracking results are accurate, many direct marketers use a trick known as split testing. Split testing uses a specific key or tracking device to associate a sale with the advertisement that produced the sale.

For example, in a print ad, the key or tracking device that may be used could be a specific phone number or extension. When a customer utilizes the number or extension, the marketer knows exactly which ad drove the customer to seek out the advertised product or service. If the same ad produced repeated sales, the marketer knows that the advertising is effective and worth doing again. On the other hand, if the ad didn’t even produce enough sales to pay for the advertising, then the marketer knows not to try that again.

The same split testing method used by direct marketers can easily be adapted and incorporated into your Internet marketing strategy, allowing you to determine exactly how effective or ineffective your Internet advertising is.

To track the success and failure of Internet advertising, most Internet marketers typically use some sort of tracking software to associate the key with sales. A simple way to do this is to develop two web pages that feature two different ads. You can then track the sales results of each ad to see which worked best, and if necessary, adjust your Internet marketing strategy accordingly.

For example, let’s say that on one of the pages, you received a total of 2,000 page views and 20 sales. This means that you have a success rate of one percent. Not bad. This is the average for both direct mail advertising and Internet advertising. Now that you have this information, you have statistics you can rely on. You can test other pages to see if they perform better or worse. You can also adapt the original pages to see if your changes have any effect on the sales outcome. For example, try adjusting headlines, graphics, text, and anything else you can think of. Then, compare the results of these changes to the original results.

After you have tested different variations of your Internet advertising, you can quickly determine exactly what works and what doesn’t. Your Internet market strategy and any future advertising that you do can then be adjusted accordingly. If you succeed, you may be able to double your sales without throwing away good money over and over again on advertising that doesn’t work.

Do you fear being drawn in by an affiliate marketing scam? What is the difference between legitimate affiliate marketing and a scam?

Affiliate marketing is basically a system of advertising where you agree to feature a company’s ads or links on your website and the company agrees to pay you a percentage of any sales generated by people clicking on the links or ads.

This type of program is especially attractive to those with limited funds or to someone who is just starting to venture into the world of online marketing. The company shoulders all the expense of creating the products and providing marketing tools. All you have to do is find the customers. The company may provide buttons, banners, ads, an affiliate website, landing pages and more. Your challenge is to drive traffic to your website to expose as many potential customers as possible to the advertising.

There are many well-known companies that use this form of marketing. And, you’ll probably be happy to know that there are quite of few entrepreneurs who are making fortunes online promoting other people’s products

Finding the best affiliate programs for you may take some time. Be aware that some of the programs you see advertised may be operated by scammers who are promising you a great income opportunity when all they are looking for is a way to take your money or steal your personal information.

I want to make it clear that there may be a cost to be an affiliate. Usually you get a product or service in exchange for this cost, such as a magazine or a website. Some programs are totally free where you just enter into an agreement to put the company’s link on your page in exchange for a percentage of the profit if that link produces a sale.

Whether the program is free or not, you still have to drive traffic to your site. You cannot blame the company if no one visits your web site. You cannot claim to have been scammed if it is your own fault that you’re not as successful as other affiliates.

Being scammed means you have been deceived by a company. They have taken your money and/or personal information and given you little or nothing in return. Such companies do exist and you have to be wise if you hope to be able to separate the legitimate offers from the scams.

Unfortunately, you may not be able to identify a scam until after the fact, but there are some guidelines that may help you avoid being scammed.

Examine the Website

A really professional company should have a really professional-looking website. It should be organized and have a lot of detailed information about their product or service. It should also contain detailed information about their affiliate program.

Check to see if there is contact information. Is there a toll free number you can call or an email address to contact with questions? Do they have a FAQ page? Do the links work?

A professional-looking, informative website does not necessarily mean that a company and its offer are legitimate, but most scammers will probably not put in the time and money to produce a detailed, informative website.

Be cautious if the page does not have a lot of content, but instead is full of promises about how much money you will make with very little effort. Read the testimonials. Do the people all look like models? Are the testimonials realistic or is each about someone making a fortune overnight without any effort? Is the page full of pictures of ‘dream’ homes, cars, and dollar bills? Pictures of people’s checks and bank statements as proof of earnings are OK, but how do you know for sure the pictures are real?

Evaluate the Product/Service/Compensation Plan

Is it a real, tangible product? Is it a service? You should be able to find information online. You can start with the company itself by sending questions in to the company or by calling its toll free number. Note the amount of information given about the product or service. What kind of disclaimers are there? Does it come with a money-back guarantee? A free trial offer? Some of the companies will actually let you see their ‘leaderboards’ so you can see who their top affiliates are and some give you an idea of how much money they are earning.

Evaluate the Investment

There are many affiliate programs that are absolutely free. There are sites where you can sign up to sell e-books, or audio books, or internet courses, website services or a whole list of things. All you do is sign up as an affiliate and then you can make a profit off of every sale generated from your site.

Some affiliate programs will ask for money. Perhaps there will be a basic affiliate level that is free, but if you want more benefits and the ability to make greater profits, you might have to pay some kind of fee. This is where the long term residual income in these programs comes from.

Most companies have some sort of compensation plan that is multilevel. As you sell products, you make money. As you tell others about the program and personally sign up others as affiliates, you make a little profit off of their sales also. Ideally, your personally-sponsored affiliates will sponsor people themselves. Sometimes you can make a little profit off of all the sales of those ‘downline’ from you through many levels. This is multi-level marketing which is NOT illegal or unethical. If the company is stable and profitable, you could create a significant residual income that will continue to grow, especially if you keep generating traffic to your site.

Be very cautious if the company asks for money before they offer you any information. You will usually have to give your name, email address, maybe phone number before having access to the detailed company information. But be careful if a company demands money before they will give you information.

Investigate opportunities as thoroughly as you can and try to avoid being impulsive and you can go a long way to avoid affiliate marketing scams.

I am a professional search engine marketer. As such, I make it my job to investigate new tools and technologies that relate to the business of driving traffic to web sites via search engines. My company makes use of various tools to promote our clients’ web sites, and they provide great leverage on our time. We would have to charge much more for our services if we did not make use of certain programs.

But there is one trend in the marketing of a lot of search engine marketing tools that I find disturbing. The core message is generally that using [insert search engine marketing product] will give you top search engine rankings in a matter of days. The message is absolutely true.

The problem I have with the basic marketing message is that a very key part of the Internet marketing equation is being left out: that rankings for keywords that generate zero or little traffic are of little value. So the magnificent performance demonstrated by certain tools or certain Internet marketing experts is an illusion. You don’t need any special software to rank highly for a keyword with no competitors.

However…

I am not at all saying that some tools are not worth using. Many of them are. But don’t expect to blast your web site with traffic overnight. The value in the tools is in getting wide distribution of content that results in the spread of your company’s brand and the creation of new links to your site. If you combine an aggressive, multi-pronged link building campaign with strong content and keyword-specific on-site optimization, you can be very successful with your search engine marketing. BUT NOT IF YOU SKIP THE KEYWORD RESEARCH PHASE.

What you need to do is pick a small set of keywords that receive a reasonable amount of traffic (“reasonable” being relative to your industry) and that are in a reasonable competitive situation. Avoid keywords that are rarely if ever used, and avoid keywords that have many millions of competitors. Success is found in the middle ground.

So the great search engine marketing scam isn’t that search engine marketing tools don’t work – the scam is the claims they make and how easy they make things seem. Don’t get the idea that it is going to be easy to drive a lot of traffic to your site. A typical campaign using these tools might look something like this:

1. Do keyword research.

2. Optimize web pages.

3. Write articles and other content.

4. Use tools to distribute articles and create social networking content.

5. Create videos.

6. Use tools to distribute videos.

7. Use social bookmarking tools to promote web pages.

8. Repeat the process on a regular basis.

If you try to promote your web site using content distribution on a wide scale without using automation tools, you will be limited in what you can get done. It just takes too long. You need to get as much leverage on your time as you can. When you write an article, you need to get it to as many article directories as you can. When you create a video, you need to get it to as many video sites as possible. That’s why you should use some search engine marketing tools.

I am not going to make any particular product recommendations, but if you are really going to be an aggressive, proactive online marketer, you need something to distribute articles, something to distribute videos, and something to add your listings to social bookmarking sites. There are some tools that integrate all of this functionality into a single package, and there are lots of tools that do one thing very well. It may take some experimentation to find what works best for you.

One thing to keep in mind is that there is still a good bit of work involved in distributing content with these tools. Articles don’t write themselves (unless you use PLR articles, which I high recommend against), videos don’t create themselves, and accounts at social networking sites don’t create themselves. If you don’t have time to properly configure and use search engine marketing tools, you are still better off leaving that work to professionals.

Maybe you’re one of those people. You know; the ones who have been pitched network marketing programs so many times you’ve reached the point of cynicism. It is certainly understandable with the litany of network marketing or multi-level marketing (MLM) programs which are available today.

Today, there are programs to sell nutritional products which can sometimes carry an autoship fee, programs to sell ebooks, and many others which carry monthly or annual fees to continue in the program. There are even programs that can cost as much as $500 to $1000 to get started.

Smart network marketers should always make it their goal to spend as little money as possible on their program to maximize profits. Unfortunately, some network marketers have spent hundreds or even thousands of dollars to get involved in a program, on advertising costs, and purchasing leads for their programs only to see their money produce little or no return on the investment. Sometimes they are even scammed out of their money.

All of this then raises a question…Is it possible to get involved in a program which is free and still be profitable? There are many programs which are free but not always profitable. Earning a sizeable profit in affiliate marketing might be one example. The problem with many free programs is that they also don’t have all of the key ingredients which produce success. These key ingredients include a good autoresponder system, timely email marketing and follow-up, attention-grabbing capture pages, and an attractive product which appeals to a niche market. It shoud also have useful marketing tools for the network marketer to help him or her promote the program, several ways to make money, and finally, excellent training. Many programs will have some of the elements but it can be difficult to find one which contains all of them; and if you do, it might cost you a ton of money. So, does a free program exist which offers all of the key ingredients needed to be successful?

I believe one such program does exist. It is called The Spider Web Marketing Program. The Spider Web Marketing System provide 12 streams of income or 12 different ways to make money. They also provide excellent training videos, attention-grabbing lead capture pages, banners, and sample classified ads you need to market the program. Whenever someone opts into the program they take care of all of your emails including follow-up emails to prospects. The Spider Web Marketing System has a generous compensation plan and the best part is that the whole system is absolutely free.

So if it’s free, can it be a scam? One would have to say no.

In conclusion, The Spider Web Marketing System is one of the easest and most efficient ways to earn money in a networking business. They provide you with all of the tools and resources you need for free. The only thing you need is a little time and motivation because the rest has all been done for you.

In most cases, it isn’t very difficult to spot a network marketing scam. The biggest one is the organization that asks for a fee for you to become part of the network but with nothing in return. Known as a Pyramid Scheme, these type of schemes have been around for many years, and that is actually the way the money flows to the organization is by each new distributor paying a few to join. Some people today refer to all network marketing schemes as pyramids if you even pay anything in the way of a sales kit. For example, if you pay for a sales kit as a condition of your distributorship, that does not constitute a pyramid because you are getting something for your money. Paying for a sales kit introduces you to the products your organization distributes and gives you an introduction into using your own products. For example, before network marketing hit the Internet, how would it have looked if you were a distributor of XYZ Corporation, you brought a potential distributor to your home for a marketing demonstration, and you had none of the products in your home? It certainly would not make you very credible as a recruiter, would it? That’s why the sales kits were provided to introduced, so that new distributors could begin using the products of their organization.

Network marketing is not immune to scams by any means, and it’s important that you be aware of anything that sounds unethical or illegal. Paying something for nothing is a red flag off the bat, but there may be others as well. Scams crop up all the time, so you need to make yourself aware of their existence. Follow the adage that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. In the mid 1990s when both Amway and Prim America were competing for a piece of the pie, there was another organization who attempted to convince people they were “better” than Amway, and when people joined, they discovered that unlike Amway, a distributor could not pass his sponsor; he had to wait until his sponsor moved up the ladder before he could. Prim America, on the other hand, did not have unlimited spots at the top of the ladder nor was there room in the middle to move at an enormous pace – it required positions to be available as in any corporate structure. These marketing plans may have been changed since then, but that is just an example of some of the tactics unscrupulous network marketing upline may use in order to bring in new recruits, especially if they know that recruit is with another organization. Also, listen to sales pitches with both ears open and do plenty of research before you make any commitments, and it will be difficult for others to bring you into their web of deception.

Blog marketing is something that has really peaked an interest in the online world. Many people across the interent are blogging, and have blogs. A blog is also known as a web log. But you will hear the term blog more often than the term web log. It basically is just an online journal that you can use and publish for the world to read. Whether you choose to write about personal things, or business. Maybe you want to use it to promote products or services. The way you use your blog is totally up to you. However, you should be aware of the scams that are out there, and what to avoid while you are trying to market your blog.

Blog marketing or really any kind of marketing has scams. Just like everything else you are going to come around. There is always someone that is wanting to scam someone else and take money from the ones that do not know better. So what can you do to protect yourself? The best way to protect yourself from blog marketing scams is to become familiar with them, and know what they are. While this can also be hard to do because the scams change as much as you change your clothes, just stay on top of them, and know what to be looking out for.

Many times when a blog marketing scam surfaces, you will find that someone is going to write about it. They are going to try and warn others before they can fall into it. So, just make sure that you read and know what you are getting into. Do your research when you are marketing your blog. Ask others if they have heard about something that you are interested in doing. Chances are, if you are wanting to pay for some marketing of your blog, that you will find someone else that has used every company out there. Get feedback from your fellow marketers for the best results. Ask them if they have recommendations, or know of places that are legitimate.

If you have been scammed, chances are there is not much that you can do other than get the word out about it. However, just remember, if you have paid someone through something like paypal that protects you, then you have a time limit to get your money back and freeze the scammers account. But, that does not always work. Most of the time the scammers are all ready aware of things like that, and they work fast to move to not be caught. If that is the case, you really can not do much else about it other than alert the proper authorities and count your losses.

While there are many that will scam you with blog marketing, there are also many that will not. There are just so many legitimate resources that you are going to find that you can use and trust. The best thing to do if you are new to the blog marketing world is to ask around and find out who is the best for the marketing that you are trying to do. Doing so will often keep you from falling into a scam, and throwing your hard earned money away.

Unfortunately, you are going to come across those that have no regrets what so ever about scamming others. The only thing that you can do is your research at times to make sure that you are using a service or person that you can trust. Ask for references, and make sure that you will be getting the best that you can afford. You will not regret it in the long run, and it will pay off to check someone or a service out before you go and invest your hard earned cash. Actually contact the services or person’s references to make sure that they are who they say, and that they can deliver what it is that you are looking for. It only takes time.
